Casa Gangotena

Casa Gangotena, Quito, Ecuador

Overview

Everything about the Casa Gangotena is superlative: the location, the appointments, the service. For this reason, it’s not surprising this luxury hotel has won more awards than any other lodging in Ecuador, from the “Hot Lists” of Conde Nast Traveler and Travel and Leisure magazines to Trip Advisor’s Traveler’s Choice Award for Best Hotel in South America.

Located in one of Quito’s prime locations, on the southwest corner of the Plaza San Francisco, the Casa Gangotena was once a historic mansion belonging to one of Quito’s leading families. A fire in the 1930s led the family to remodel it completely, with painted tin ceilings, decorative murals and friezes, Egyptian marble, and a host of Art Nouveau and Art Deco elements. Together they make the Gangotena one of the benchmarks for the hospitality industry in the Americas.

When you visit, you’ll enjoy posh rooms decorated with sumptuous antiques and marble bathrooms. But you’ll also have access to the glassed-in patio, the flower-filled sitting room, and the panoramic third-floor terrace, with its sweeping view of Old Town Quito. An unparalleled experience in Ecuador’s “Florence of the Andes.”
