Inca Trail Tours

Our Inca Trail Tours take you to the most spectacular scenery and archaeological sites of the Peruvian Andes. You’ll start at Cusco, the near-mythic Inca capital, where visits to the great Inca Temple of the Sun and looming Sacsayhuaman fortress allow you to acclimatize to the 11,000-foot elevations. From there, it’s off to the Andes’ Sacred Valley, where you’ll sit at the feet of master weavers, haggle for handicrafts in an authentic Andean market, and explore the fortress town of Ollantaytambo, a living Inca village that remains substantially as it was at the time of the Spanish conquest. Your trip culminates with the 4-day hike along the Inca Trail, which takes you through cloud forests, archaeological ruins, and stunning mountain defiles as you approach the great citadel of Machu Picchu. The climactic vision of the Inca ruins from the Inti Punku, or Sun Gate, truly has no price. This trip can be combined with excursions to the Peruvian Amazon, Lake Titicaca, the Nazca Lines, the Galapagos, and/or Easter Island for a broader glimpse of South America’s wonders.

When is the best time to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu?

The dry season, which runs from April to October is the best time (and most popular) to hike because of the milder daytime temperatures and lower chance of rain. You will need to make your reservations 3-6 months in advance if you want to be assured of space during this time. During the rainy season, the Trail is less crowded and less advance time is required for reservations. The Inca Trail is closed during the month of February each year. See all Inca Trail Faq.
