Overview
Many companies offer tours of the Amazon, but on the Tucano, you’ll enjoy an expedition cruise that’s a world apart. That’s because the Tucano takes you deeper into the Amazon than any other vessel. With its small, seven- or eight-person groups, expert native guides, and daring penetration into some of the wildest, least-inhabited areas in the forest, you’ll experience the pristine natural beauty that inflamed the imaginations of countless explorers, from the Spanish conquistadors till the present day.
The Tucano is a vessel that prioritizes experiencing the Amazon over all else. Its small size and shallow draft allow it to penetrate inlets and tributaries where other boats never go, and its intimate dimensions—just nine staterooms—afford a personalized adventure that fits itself to your tastes and interests. There’s also a galley full of wholesome, locally sourced fruits and fishes, as well as a relaxed atmosphere that’s 100 percent Brazilian in its warmth and charm.
Cabins
All staterooms on the Tucano feature two or three single beds (sometimes arranged bunk style), plus private bathrooms and sinks. The décor is classical, with wood panels and brass fittings to recall the glory days of steamboat travel in the late 19th century. All rooms have individually controlled air-conditioning and a full set of bath amenities.
Common Areas
The heart of the Tucano’s common areas is its salon, elegantly paneled and located in the forward part of the middle deck. Here, 360-degree windows allow travelers to appreciate the Amazon while dining, relaxing, or enjoying after-dinner drinks with companions. The top deck, outfitted with a sun canopy, also is ideally placed for observation of macaws and frolicking pink dolphins, while the mid-deck balcony allows for exterior views of the river and its banks.
