With its restful atmosphere and stunning panoramic windows, the Zafiro
is the Amazon’s first floating five-star hotel. When you step on board, you’ll feel you’ve entered a moving observation deck, allowing you to contemplate the rainforest in all its savage beauty.
The ship’s design is inspired by the earliest Amazon
exploration vessels (memorably portrayed in the movie Fitzcarraldo), updated to provide all the latest conveniences. At 163 feet in length, with 19 suites, the Zafiro sports a striking white-steel-and-wood design, with muted tones that allow the eye to focus on the kaleidoscope of movement along the riverbanks. You’ll also enjoy all the comforts of civilization while you’re on board, from the full spa and gym to the outside lounge and Jacuzzi.
The Zafiro boasts 16 Suites, two Master Suites, and one Zafiro Suite, all with stunning floor-to-ceiling views that make you feel the Amazon’s mystery right in your cabin. Additionally, the Master Suites offer broad 90-degree vistas, while the Zafiro Suite has a 180-degree picture window to allow you the full sweep of the jungle’s vastness. You can also step onto an outer balcony to feel the late-afternoon breeze.
The inside of each suite is equally luxurious. Air-conditioning, private bathrooms, soft lighting, king-sized beds with cotton sheets, soothing decorations with natural fibers and neutral tones: you’ll be surrounded by comfort as you watch the jungle’s beauty slide by.
The Zafiro’s reputation for hospitality starts with its food. Casual yet elegant, the on-board restaurant specializes in Amazon fusion cuisine, one of the most exciting trends in Peru’s recent gastronomic revolution. Whether you’re sampling the fire of hot jungle peppers or the subtle nuances of exotic fruits like the cocona and camu camu, your palate will come alive with the delicately infused flavors of Amazon cooking—even as your eyes marvel at the lush scenery outside.
Nor does the Zafiro’s luxury stop there. The sundeck allows you a bird’s-eye view of the butterflies, pink dolphins, sloths, turtles and other wildlife along the river’s edge, as well as of the houses on stilts and huts inhabited by the locals. With its spreading canopy to protect you from the glare and Jacuzzi to cool off after trips ashore, you’ll enjoy a relaxing atmosphere as you socialize with the other passengers.
Finally, the Zafiro rounds out these features with a full range of services. On the top level you’ll find an air-conditioned indoor lounge, as well as an up-to-date fitness room with cardio equipment and floor-to-ceiling windows. You can also make an appointment for a massage or aromatherapy in the spa, or simply lie out in one of the recliners on the sundeck. A magical way to experience one of Earth’s most enchanting places.
