Update On The Train Route From Cusco To Machu Picchu

Train to Machu Picchu

Train to Machu Picchu

The latest information that we have received from Peru indicates that FTSA, the operator of the railroad on the train route from Cusco to Machu Picchu, has made substantial progress in restoring the railroad to working order. So far, the routes from km 82 (Piscacucho) to km 90 and from km 106 to km 110 (Aguas Calientes) have been repaired. The work to restore the railroad from km 90 to km 106 is in progress, and is expected to be completed by April 1st.

The Cusco to Puno railroad (called the Andean Explorer), which was also damaged by heavy rains, has been restored, and began operations on February 22nd. These reports are obviously good news for our passenger’s who are traveling to Peru and Machu Picchu in April, as well as the local people in Peru whose livelihood has been severely affected.
