Early in the morning of Saturday, February 27th, an 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Concepcion, Chile’s second largest city. So far, the death toll is over 700 people. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families and friends of the victims. Chile’s capital city of Santiago, which is more than 200 miles northeast of the epicenter, lost electricity and some basic services. The extent of the damage to homes and commercial buildings is still unclear at this time. The airport in Santiago, which suffered major damage, is expected to be closed at least until March 2nd.
