Overview
Unfenced and unhindered, guests of the chic Rhino Post Safari Lodge can fully immerse themselves in this idyllic spot on a 12,000-hectare concession in the southwestern section of Kruger National Park. Bordering the Mala Mala and Sabi Sands Private Game Reserves, the lodge’s enviable position allows the unrestricted passage of wildlife for awe-inspiring moments. Overlooking the perennially dry Mutlumuvi riverbed, the lodge takes advantage of its vast, open space with large glass doors and windows offering views at every turn. Wood decking throughout the forest offers plenty of shade.
Rooms
Eight contemporary bush suites are linked by raised wooden walkways, and each offers a private deck and plenty of glass windows and doors to allow nature in. Modern amenities include battery- and inverter-powered lights and fans, international charging points, hairdryers, and more. Each suite can accommodate two guests in several bed configurations. The open floorplan includes an ensuite with double vanity and freestanding tub, outdoor shower, minibar, mosquito nets, telephone, electric blankets, bathrobes and slippers, tea/coffee-making facilities, and laundry service. Children of all ages are welcome and can be accommodated with a rollaway bed in one of the bush suites.
Amenities
Eminently proud of its location, Rhino Post Safari Lodge has crafted a menu of activities that highlight the wildlife and natural beauty for which this region is known. Early-morning and evening (with sundowners, of course) safari drives are conducted in specially adapted open Land Cruisers and accompanied by professional guides. Tailor-made birding safaris, stargazing, golf at Skukuza, and in-room massages all vie for guests’ attention. Simply remaining on property is always an option, to enjoy the lounge bar and viewing deck, browse the curio shop, sip a Six Dogs Gin on the bar deck or at the fire pit while watching for animals to come drink at the waterhole, or wander up the old elephant path to the swimming pool.
Dining is a treat, with both indoor and outdoor options. The communal dining area encourages the sharing of stories between guests and guides. Romantic private dinners are available upon request. Meals are accompanied by the wine cellar’s wide selection of South African wines, from full-bodied Merlot to robust Cabernet Sauvignon.
