Overview

Occupying an enviable spot on a private island on the Zambezi River, Cascades Safari Lodge presents a refined and immersive stay. The completely redesigned, upscale lodge sits at the northeast tip of Namibia, where the Zambezi meets the Chobe River just over 40 miles upriver from Victoria Falls. Guests aboard a cruise on the African Dream overnight here during the land portion of their trip.

Rooms

Cascades Safari Lodge offers accommodation in eight spacious bungalows, each appointed with locally inspired décor and offering a private oasis in a pristine natural setting. The thoughtfully designed bungalows provide a bedroom with a mosquito-netting-draped king-size bed, a lounge area, an en-suite bathroom with wooden basins, a stone bathtub and indoor and outdoor showers, a patio with deck chairs and a private swimming pool.

While intended to exude a natural ambiance, focused on the surrounding wilderness, the lodge is decidedly comfortable in its amenities, which include air conditioning and heating, coffee- and tea-making facilities, a television and DVD player, a stocked minibar, bathrobes and slippers, toiletries and other niceties.

Amenities

While wholly private, Cascades Safari Lodge provides guests with gathering spaces for social moments and dining. The Terrasse panoramic terrace is the ideal observation point for watching for birds and wildlife in the surrounding area. The lodge’s main building features an open floor plan with comfortable seating, as well as a well-stocked bar and a walk-in wine cellar for drinks before or after dinner. There’s a gift shop, laundry service and fishing equipment rental, as well.

All meals are served in the lodge restaurant, open to the outdoors, so that guests never miss the chance to spot animals in the wild. In the evening, guests may gather around the firepit in front of the main building, which overlooks the Mambova rapids.

Ever mindful of the changing weather conditions along the Zambezi, the lodge provides insecticides, a flashlight, a waterproof coat and an umbrella in each bungalow. Guests may use the complimentary WiFi service available in the main lodge area. The 220V electrical plugs come with adapters that cover most countries.
