Maun

Vibrant, creative, and often underrated, Maun is the main jumping off point for safaris in Moremi Game Reserve and the Okavango Delta thanks to its great road and air connections.

A blend of modern buildings in the heart of town and more luxurious stays on its outskirts, it has a restaurant scene which is superb at catering to international palates.

Maun’s sights switch between the grazing grounds of traditional agriculturalists and the displays of the Nhabe Museum. Located in one of the town’s oldest buildings (built by the British military in 1939), it’s small collection of artefacts include examples of basket weaving and artistry from the Ngamiland district which lies around Maun.

The last stop for any last-minute purchases – and souvenirs – before delving into Botswana’s famed wild spaces, Maun is also gaining a reputation as one of the best places in the country to become immersed in Tswana, Kalanga, and Basarwa (Bushman) tribal culture. https://www.savacations.com/botswana/makgadikgadi-pans-nxai-pan-national-parks.
