What is the Weather like in Cuba?

Like many Caribbean destinations, Cuba has two seasons: wet and dry. The former runs from May to October, and features higher temperatures as well as a greater risk of hurricanes (September and October are the months to watch out for here). By contrast, the latter runs from November to April, bringing temperatures in the low 80s and cooler nights as cold fronts move in from the north. In general, cities like Havana on the island’s north coast receive more rainfall than their counterparts in the south.

These two seasons also correspond to peak and off-peak travel times for tourists. Most visitors to Cuba go during the Christmas and Easter holidays, which are the winter months for northern countries. Expect prices during these times to be somewhat higher, and beaches and accommodations to be significantly more crowded. By contrast, the off season offers many discounts, though the rainfall, temperatures, and humidity make travel more problematic. If you go during this period, umbrellas and raincoats are a must.
