Overview
Travel to the Brazilian Amazon for this fascinating four day Rio Solimões cruise aboard the Iberostar Grand Amazon. Explore the Igarapés (narrow waterways) and Igapós (flooded forests) of the Manacapurú Region. Spot alligators and listen to the sounds of the rainforest during a nighttime boat ride through the Três Bocas region, and visit an indigenous community to learn about their culture and lifestyle. The last part of the cruise takes you to the Meeting of the Waters, where the Rio Negro and Rio Solimões flow side-by-side for miles before joining to form the Amazon River.
Lodging and Meals: This tour includes accommodations for 5 nights (2 nights in Manaus and 3 nights aboard the Iberostar Grand Amazon, and 11 meals (6 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 3 dinners).

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 (Wed): Manaus.
Depart to Manaus. After passing through immigration and customs, proceed to the reception area, where our inbound services representative will be holding a sign with your name on it. You will be greeted and then transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Manaus.
Day 2 (Thu): Manaus-City Tour.
On this tour you will visit the Municipal Market, built at the beginning of the 20th century. Inside the impressive building, you will find a variety of regional products including fish, fruits and herbs. Afterwards, you will pass by the Government Palace and view the nearby creek with its typical houses built on stilts. Then, you will visit the Floating Dock in Manaus, which is deeply connected to the cycle of rubber and, in recent years has undergone great changes, in order to make it competitive and suited to the demands of globalization. The final destination is the Amazon Opera House, the primary symbol from the golden age of the rubber boom, built in 1896. With the help of a recent restoration, the building has maintained the splendor of that epic period. After the tour, you will be returned to your hotel. Overnight in Manaus. (B)

Day 3 (Fri): Manaus-Iberostar Grand Amazon.
Check-in begins at 3:00 pm in the Port of Manaus, with departure scheduled for 6:00 pm. Sailing down Rio Solimões, enjoy the sunset on the top deck with classical music. Afterwards, a welcome cocktail is offered by the Captain with a presentation of equipment on board and safety procedures in Salão Lua. Welcome dinner at Kuarup Restaurant. Overnight aboard the ship. Day 4 (Sat): Iberostar Grand Amazon-Caboclo Visit-Manaquiri Region.
Morning activity is a visit to the home of Caboclo (locals) in the region of Lake Janauacá to get to know their way of life.
Late afternoon options include piranha fishing or a boat tour of the Manaquiri region to observe the local flora and fauna.
After dinner, spot alligators by boat, and listen to the night sounds in the Três Bocas region. Overnight aboard the ship. (B,L,D)
Day 5 (Sun): Iberostar Grand Amazon-Manacapurú Region-Lake Janauari.
Amazon Awakening. Early morning boat ride in the Manacapurú Region, where birds can be seen as well as a beautiful landscape lit by sunrise.
After breakfast, more boat rides through the Igarapés (narrow streams) and Igapós (flooded forest) of the Manacapurú Region region, where one can observe the activities of local residents and fishermen. Another option during this time is a jungle trek.
Afternoon boat rides through Igarapés and Igapós in the region of Lake Janauari. Visit the region on a floater with the opportunity to purchase local crafts.
This evening, there will be a formal dinner at Kuarup Restaurant. Overnight aboard the ship. (B,L,D)
Day 6 (Mon): Iberostar Grand Amazon-Meeting of the Waters-Manaus.
On the way to Manaus, you will observe the Meeting of the Waters, where the dark water of the Rio Negro and the sandy colored water of the Rio Solimões flow side-by-side for miles before joining to form the Amazon River. 8:00 am arrival at the Port of Manaus and disembarkation. You will be transferred to the airport in Manaus for your flight to to your final destination. (B)

Passport/Visa: U.S., Canadian, and Australian citizens require a valid passport (for the duration of their stay) and visa (effective October 1, 2023), sufficient funds, and a return ticket for stays of up to 90 days. EU Citizens are only required to have a valid passport (for the duration of their stay), sufficient funds, and a return ticket for stays of up to 90 days. It is highly recommended that your passport has at least six months of valid term beyond your departure date. Citizens of other countries are advised to contact the Brazilian embassy in their country before traveling.

To Book This Trip: We require a non-refundable deposit of $800 per person plus the cost of the international airfare (if we make the arrangements for you). The balance of the trip cost is due 60 days prior to departure.
