Day-by-Day Itinerary

Depart to Manaus. After passing through immigration and customs, proceed to the reception area, where our inbound services representative will be holding a sign with your name on it. You will be greeted and then transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Manaus.

The city tour begins with an 11 mile river front drive along Ponta Negra road to the floating port of Manaus. We will stop at the Rio Negro Palace, the old official residence of the governor and a beautiful example of architecture of the golden age of rubber production. Next we will visit the Indian Museum and the Salesiana Congregation to understand the traditions, habits and behavior of indigenous people. See Justice Palace and finish the city tour with “Teatro Amazonas.” This fantastic theater opened in 1896 and is considered the highlight of Manaus. It is an extraordinary symbol of the wealth and greatness of the golden age of rubber production. The tour ends at approximately 11:30 AM. After the tour, you will be returned to your hotel. Overnight in Manaus. (B)

Note: The Museums and Amazon Theatre are closed on Sundays and Holidays.

Depart for the cruise from the lobby of the Tropical Manaus Hotel at 2:00 PM. En route to the Amazon River, enjoy a welcome drink and learn about the itinerary and facilities onboard. After a snack, meet in the leisure room for a lecture about Amazon ecology while the vessel takes us upstream. Before dinner, enjoy a caipirinha, the national drink of Brazil. After dinner, you will explore the river`s edge with powerful searchlights and see caiman, night-hawks, snakes, toro-rats, sloths, and frogs. Overnight aboard the ship. (B,D)

You will wake up in Janauaca Lake and start an early exploration by canoe of the waking forest. Keep your eyes open for birds and enjoy the Pink River Dolphins. Return for breakfast followed by a walk in the forest and a visit to the inhabitants of the lake who live from manioc plantations, fishing, diverse fruit trees, rubber, Brazil-nut trees, wood, and other extractive products. The piranha fishing in late afternoon is not only for passionate anglers, and there are good chances of seeing Hoatzins and large flocks of egrets. After dinner, you will explore the forest in canoes with the possibility of observing nocturnal animals and admire the millions of stars and constellations of the southern hemisphere. Overnight aboard the ship. (B,L,D)

In the morning, you will have a last chance to bird-watch and good chance to see the Victoria Regia giant water lilies, in the Lago Janauary Ecological Park. Explore the mysterious flooded forest by canoe or walking on catwalks, observing wildlife in the trees and in the water. During breakfast, the boat starts navigation toward the “Meeting of the Waters”, a unique spectacle where the bright colored water of the Amazon and the dark water of the Rio Negro flow side by side without mixing for many miles. Return to the Tropical Manaus Hotel landing dock passing the port of Manaus, with views of the floating docks, market, old custom house, and the dome of the Opera house, arriving at 11:30 AM.
