Overview

Taking “remote” to the next level, Nimali Mara is located in the extreme north of the Serengeti, close to the border with Kenya. Nearby, the Mara River cuts through the far-flung corners of Tanzania, surrounded by rolling green hills, grassy savannahs and acacia trees. It’s also where wildebeest trample the ground in astounding numbers during their annual migration between July and October. On the edge of the action, the lodge is both intimate and exclusive, offering fortunate guests a front-row seat on one of the most sought-after natural spectacles in the world.

Tents

The lodge was designed chameleon-like to blend effortlessly into its surroundings. Amongst the kopje’s rock formations, unique gathering spaces and luxurious accommodations offer respite when guests aren’t out on safari. Eight glass-fronted tented suites and two honeymoon suites offer complete immersion in the environment, while boasting exceptional views of the Serengeti plains. Private decks with swing beds are the perfect place to rest in the afternoon. There’s no need to miss a moment of the wildlife outside – the ensuite bathrooms even have a view from their large, copper bathtubs through opening windows.

Amenities

Life at Nimali Mara quite rightly revolves around morning and afternoon game drives in one of the most remote regions of the Serengeti. Whether by safari vehicle or hot-air balloon, this is one of the best places to glimpse elephants and predators. During the great wildebeest migration peak, outings focus on the Mara River.

When not on safari, guests have access to an infinity pool set within a natural cave, an ideal place to cool down during the heat of the day. Spa treatments and wellness therapies are also available. The staff can arrange for special bush lunches and dinners, sundowners in the bush and champagne bush breakfasts. Dedicated children’s activities are available for families.
