Overview

A privileged location during the Great Migration, Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge sits in the center of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park close to the famous Maasai kopjes, the Museum of Olduvai Gorge, Seronera and the Grumeti River. Designed in a fresh African decorative style, the family-friendly safari lodge seamlessly combines tradition and comfort. The hillside location over the central plains makes this an ideal setting for resident game viewing year-round. During the migration, it’s possible to witness the herds right from the comfort of one’s tent.

Tents

Kubu Kubu’s 25 elegant tents stand on raised, solid-wood platforms and each has romantic four-poster beds, ensuite facilities with a double vanity and bathtub, and an outdoor shower. A private balcony makes the most of the sweeping vistas beyond the property. The accommodations have been thoughtfully designed to blend in with the surrounding environment, inspiring animals to wander freely.

Families may opt for two tents that are interconnected with a shared bathroom and private porch. In all tents, mosquito netting, mineral water, internal phone service, tea- and coffee-making facilities and a fan keep guests comfortable and refreshed. WiFi keeps one connected.

Amenities

Guests have access to the canvassed living room tent, elegantly adorned with soft and bright furnishings. An open floor plan connects the lounge and dining area with a large deck conducive to alfresco dining and sundowners and snacks around the campfire. Large, plush sofas invite one to curl up with a book or watch for zebras and wildebeest galloping across the horizon. Beyond the main tent, the lodge features a large, infinity-edged swimming pool with sun loungers, a massage cabin and a souvenir shop.

Outdoor activities abound, from safari game drives to early-morning hot-air balloon rides while the herds stampede below. Most days are capped with sundowners at sunset while listening to fellow travelers’ tales of the day.
