Overview

An idyllic enclave hidden amongst one of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations on the outskirts of its namesake town, Arusha Coffee Lodge is a haven of relaxation for those setting out on, or just finishing, an East African safari. An aromatic, sensory-filled experience, the lodge comprises 30 Plantation Houses amidst the evergreen coffee fields, designed around the original, early 1900s-era landowner’s home.

Rooms

Whether in a Plantation Suite or Plantation Room, guests are never far from the pleasant aroma of coffee, always wafting on the breeze. The coffee theme plays out in the decor through mindfully chosen colors and textures. The spacious suites are modern, yet comfortable, with a rainfall shower and generously sized bathtub, a private outdoor terrace with log fire and satellite television. Cozy rooms feature an in-room log fire, ensuite bathroom with shower and bath and a verandah overlooking the green coffee garden.

Amenities

Guests may gather in the main Plantation House, which houses an a la carte restaurant, a bistro with a bar, coffee station and pizza oven, and a lounge, all of which have fireplaces to stave off the cool night air. Lodge features also include an enclosed swimming pool, a garden terrace and Peaberries spa, offering massages, pedicures and manicures.

Breakfast is a communal affair in the main Plantation House, with buffet, continental and a la cart options. A daily four-course luncheon buffet features succulent meats, a wide variety of vegetarian dishes, decadent desserts and coffees, all served in the garden. For those who prefer to lunch on the go, a picnic lunch box can be arranged.

Discerning diners enjoy The Grill Room, with a menu that pays homages to international cuisines while featuring fresh, locally sourced produce. Around-the-clock room service is also available.

A variety of activities and tours are offered daily at the Lodge, including in-depth coffee tours of the grounds with experts who explain the bean-to-cup process. Guests may choose to go farther afield to visit Arusha National Park and meet its black-and-white colobus monkeys, or into Arusha to visit interesting museums and the Maasai Market. Day trips to Ngorongoro Crater can also easily be arranged.
