Overview

Sophistication, simplicity, and safari merge in a satisfying setting at Elephant Bedroom Camp on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Kenya’s Samburu National Reserve. Shaded by Doum palms and other trees within a lush green belt of riverine forest, the five-star camp offers expansive tents against a backdrop of dramatic mountains, including Mount Kenya.

The simple act of being in camp is being on safari. Elephants, monkeys, impalas, and more are frequent wild visitors to the grounds, and out in Samburu National Park, guests spot a fair number of lions, leopards, and species endemic to northern Kenya.

Tents

The camp’s 14 spacious tents are adorned with rustic, colourful African touches, a private plunge pool on each deck, hot and cold running water, electricity, and complimentary herbal shower and bath products. WiFi is available and there are 240V/50Hz charging facilities in the camp lounge.

Amenities

Accredited professional safari guides take a maximum of six guests per vehicle out on day drives in 4WD, open-sided vehicles. Safari days are complemented by cultural visits and lectures with a resident naturalist, entertainment by local Samburu warriors, and guided bush walks.

The camp boasts a spacious dining and lounge tent with a large veranda to maximize views as guests enjoy dinner under soft, intimate lighting. Breakfast and lunch are served al fresco on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, under the shade trees, if weather permits. Private bush breakfasts and dinners, as well as picnic lunches and sundowners are available.
