Napo Wildlife Center

Napo Wildlife Center, Amazon, Ecuador

Overview

Located some two hours by boat from the town of El Coca, in the heart of Ecuador’s Yasuní National Park, the Napo Wildlife Center isn’t just a lodge: it’s a community where learning about nature and spiritual discovery blend into one another.

When you stay at Napo, you’ll become part of a shared enterprise, which starts with the resources of the main hall. Here, in the lodge’s interpretive center and library, you’ll hear talks by naturalists about the astonishingly rich fauna of this tract of jungle along the Napo River. You’ll also be introduced to the local Kichua culture, as the women of this tribal group demonstrate their ancestral hunting methods, cooking, medicines, and dance.

Napo has something for everyone. Whether you’re tracking river otters on the nocturnal path outside the lodge, or standing on the 20-foot observation tower to enjoy a 360-degree view of the surrounding lake, you’ll feel like part of a very special family. And best of all, the Napo family includes the monkeys, jaguars, peccaries, and tapirs that are the real stars of the Amazon. A stunning experience in the world’s most stunning biosphere.
