Easter Island, known for its colossal Moai statues, is one of our most popular Chile excursions. We offer four or five day programs that include the following: one full-day excursion to the archaeological center of Akahanga, the quarry at Rano Raraku volcano, Ahu Tongariki, and Anakena Beach; one half-day excursion to the Rano Kau crater, the Orongo ceremonial village, and Vinapu; and one half-day excursion to Ahu Akivi, the caves of Ana Te Pahu, and Puna Pau, where the pukao (reddish stone headdresses) that some Moai wear were carved.
This fascinating cruise begins in Punta Arenas, Chile and continues via the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel to Ushuaia, Argentina. You will see massive glaciers flowing into the sea, colonies of Magellanic penguins, elephant seals, and other wildlife, and disembark in Cape Horn and Wulaia Bay. Cape Horn is the southernmost point of the continent, and Wulaia Bay is one of the most important indigenous sites of the region.
