It sits between the Andes and the coastal mountain range in the country's central valley. San Pedro de Atacama is a small oasis village near the border with Bolivia that offers an excellent base to view Chile's best archaeological sites, and Easter Island is known for its colossal stone Moai statues whose origin is still a mystery.
The Chilean Lake District offers breathtaking views of snow capped volcanoes, glacial lakes, and ancient forests. It is the launching point for trips to the Island of Chiloe, cruises to Southern Patagonia, and lake crossings to quaint Andean mountain villages. Torres del Paine National Park is one of the best parks for outdoor enthusiasts in all of South America. Its Granite peaks tower above mountain lakes and glaciers, and provide a spectacular natural setting for camping, hiking, horseback riding and other activities.

CHILE & EASTER ISLAND VACATION EXTENSIONS
Our Chile & Easter Island Vacation Extensions include Easter Island Tours and a Chilean Patagonia Cruise.
Easter Island, known for its colossal Moai statues, is one of our most popular Chile excursions. We offer four or five day programs that include the following: one full-day excursion to the archaeological center of Akahanga, the quarry at Rano Raraku volcano, Ahu Tongariki, and Anakena Beach; one half-day excursion to the Rano Kau crater, the Orongo ceremonial village, and Vinapu; and one half-day excursion to Ahu Akivi, the caves of Ana Te Pahu, and Puna Pau, where the pukao (reddish stone headdresses) that some Moai wear were carved.
This fascinating cruise begins in Punta Arenas, Chile and continues via the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel to Ushuaia, Argentina. You will see massive glaciers flowing into the sea, colonies of Magellanic penguins, elephant seals, and other wildlife, and disembark in Cape Horn and Wulaia Bay. Cape Horn is the southernmost point of the continent, and Wulaia Bay is one of the most important indigenous sites of the region.
